People always say that. "Would you hang with me." I wonder where that saying came from and what they'd think if they knew that it always makes me think of how Jesus both wants to hang out with us and how he hung for us on the cross.
lyrics
HANG WITH ME
I admit that up til now I never carried my cross
I only followed You when there wasn’t any cost
I’m just like those believers who couldn’t stay awake
When the only thing You asked of them was to keep watch and pray
You said, “Hang with me, hang with me, hang with me tonight.
Don’t leave me, don’t’ grieve me, just be with me awhile
I don’t know if you believe me, but I love you more than life
So hang with me, hang with me, hang with me.”
I imagine how it felt when they abandoned You that night
You knew it was for them that You’d soon lay down Your life
Your blood was made to cover every sin since Adam’s fall.
My pride, my greed and anger: You said, “Just let it all…
Hang with me, hang with me, hang with me tonight
I’ll bear it, I swear it, I will pay the price
I don’t know if you believe it, but I love your more than life
So hang with me, hang with me, hang with me”
Lord, I know I’ve let You down a thousand times before
I don’t wanna shut You out of my life anymore
So now I’m on my knees and I know just what I need
More of You each day, so please stay….
With me, with me, hang with me tonight
Don’t leave me, don’t grieve me, be with me awhile
I don’t know if You believe me, but I love You more than life
So hang with me, hang with me, hang with me.
