This is the one and only song that I wrote with my father. He wrote the melody and always pictured it being the song in a movie that you kept humming on your way out. Somehow, it fit the climax scene in my musical when St. Cecilia is suffering and suffocating and surrounded by angels.
lyrics
FATHER’S HOUSE
I’m in my father’s house and there I will abide
For nothing in this world can pull me from His side
Though trials overwhelm, the fortress where I dwell
Is a tower undefiled in a world that’s weak and wild
I know I am His child, safe in my father’s house.
I’m in my Father’s hands, so gentle, yet so strong.
In this vast universe, I know where I belong.
When obstacles dissuade me, I shall not be afraid.
In His mighty grip of grace, in His comforting embrace
I’ve found my resting place, safe in my Father’s hands.
I’m in my Father’s heart, and I am His delight.
He meets my every need. I’m precious in His sight.
He lifts me from the mire, He grants all I desire
There’s no greater love than He who laid down His life for me
I’ll spend eternity safe in my Father’s house.
